2 everything to keep Mr. DE LA HOYA away from Devon. For example,
3 after much begging on the part of Devon I purchased tickets for
4 i Devon and I to see Mr. DE LA HOYA do what he does for a living and
5 why he is so famous. Devon was adamant that he wanted to see his
6 father in person as oppose to seeing him on television or in the
7 newspaper. Devon and I went to Mr. DE LA HOYA's fight in Las Vegas,
8 Nevada. At that fight Mr. DE LA HOYA was knocked out by Mr.
9 Hopkins. Devon became gravely concerned that his father was
10 seriously hurt. [The mind of a young child is uncontrollable].
11 Devon begged and cried hysterically to have me bring him to his
12 father at once to make sure that he was going to live. I finally
13 relented. Devon and I approached Mr. DE LA HOYA's dressing room.
14 At that instance Mr. DE LA HOYA's friend Eric Gomez noticed me.
15 Then, immediately, Devon and I were "man-handled" through a back
16 hall and into a back alley/construction area. Substantial commotion
17 ' entailed. Devon and I were called several profanities. Devon and
18 I were physically assaulted. Devon was deeply scared by this
19 incident. After this incident Devon literally did not talk to
20 anyone for days. Devon was mentally affected for weeks as a direct
result of being thrown around and being called names. It continues
21 to be a wonder if Mr. DE LA HOYA knew about this incident and, if
23 Lie did, whether he condoned it. If he did, this will only have a
24 eeper impact on Devon's psyche. Devon is now suffering greatly in
is schooling and being able to get along with his class mates.

14 restrictions are void as a matter of public policy.
15 Notwithstanding, nothing in the paternity agreement or Judgment
16 suggest that Devon is under any restrictions with respect to him
17 speaking freely to anyone about his father's true identity. To
18 suggest otherwise would be a violation of public policy and Devon's
right of free speech pursuant to the United States Constitution.

22 to live close to the standard of living of his father whether or not

27 attributes of a nicer neighborhood and being afforded a better

I, Angelique McQueen, declare and state as follows:
am the Petitioner herein. I have personal knowledge of the
following facts. If called upon I could and would competently
testify that all the facts contained herein are true and correct
from my own personal knowledge.
I am requesting that the Court modify certain portions of
the Judgment of Paternity including child support and those
paragraphs concerning confidentiality.
By way of background, the Respondent OSCAR DE LA HOYA is
the father of Devon, now age 6.
Mr. DE LA HOYA is a well know prize boxer. His income has been reported to be in excess of $35 million per year. Mr. DE LA HOYA presently pays to me $3,000.00 per month as and for child support. In addition, Mr. DE LA HOYA is to pay all of Devon's health expenses. Notwithstanding, Mr. DE LA HOYA has chosen to not have any visitation or contact with Devon even though I have attempted to encourage such contact. Due to Mr. DE LA HOYA's
notoriety and the "circle" of people that hang around him I am
unable to communicate with him directly [examples discussed infra].
It has been my desire to advise Mr. DE LA HOYA that his son is
suffering tremendously by not having Mr. DE LA HOYA involved in
Devon's life. Devon knows who is father is. Devon wants to tell
everyone. He, of course, is proud to know that his father is so
famous and actively involved in the community. Notwithstanding,
feeling restrained, 1 have attempted almost daily to convince Devon
that he should not divulge his father's true identity to his
friends, class mates, etc. I am now seeing that making up stories
and excuses will no longer work with Devon. This is complicated by

I recall a very lonely man. A man who was amazed that I knew nothing of him nor boxing. I laughed at the silly name Oscar De La Renta... No he said De La Hoya... They changed the spelling when I started boxing to make it more American he said.
I knew then that this was a man who was not strong, not living in reality, not in control of his life... However someone took their eyes off Oscar for he had a cast on his hand. Its not really hurt, they are just holding out for more money... During our time together Oscar complained a lot of how he hated that cast. His arm would itch terribly... I tried the clothes hanger, baby powder, anything I could think of to help him... Because I was alone with Oscar I could talk to him... I told him things were wrong.
